The 2004 award-winning movie, "Iron Jawed Angels" starring Hilary Swank and Angelica Huston, will be presented to the public free of charge by the League of Women voters of Jefferson County and the Lakewood Chapter of the American Association of University Women at the American Mountaineering Center, 710 Tenth St., Golden on Monday, Aug. 26. Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper called this movie "...important history...told in a fresh, and blazing fashion. Two thumbs up!" Courageous suffragettes endured imprisonment and hunger strikes to win for women the right to vote we hold so dear today. The public is invited to learn or be reminded of this dramatic history. Bring the family for this celebration of the anniversary of passage of the 19th Amendment. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served free of charge. Parking and the entrance to the auditorium are at the rear (north side) of the building.
