Tesoro Cultural Center partners with the Fraterna’s(Marian Community of Reconciliation, a religious community of women, associated with The Christian Life Movement) to present a traditional Mexican and Southwestern event that is fun for the whole family. The Las Posadas (December 16-24) celebration commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter on the night of baby Jesus’ birth.The pageant is concluded with the customary breaking of the piñata to share candy, songs and prayers both in Spanish and English and seasonal carols led by Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo and the Southwest Musicians. Complimentary biscochitos and hot beverages will be provided. The event is free and open to the public. Outside event, dress warmly.
