Jefferson County Commissioner Rosier announces he will leave to join the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board
Veteran Jefferson County Elected Official Donald Rosier announced that he will resign from the Board of County Commissioners in early January 2018, to become General Manager of the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board. Rosier was elected Commissioner in 2010 and re-elected to serve another four years in 2014. He is term limited next year. Sterling Ranch is a 3,400-acre mixed use master planned walkable community in northwest Douglas County.
Rosier is known for being a strong advocate for the citizens of Jefferson County on a range of issues. His dedication serving on numerous boards and commissions, strong presence in the business community, and efforts to collaborate across county government will create lasting impacts throughout the county. During his tenure, Rosier utilized his technical expertise and strong attention to detail to ensure all decisions met the needs of county residents. As a result, he received many awards, took on leadership roles both locally and nationally, and is recognized as a community leader in many fields including transportation, development, business and technology.
“I am both excited and humbled to have been offered this amazing opportunity. Throughout my career I have accomplished a track record of success in managing complex design projects, acquisitions, entitlements, land development and construction projects. Accepting the position of General Manager for the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board equates to a City Manager's position in a medium size town with all of the oversight that goes with it, but much more forward-facing to our residents which is the most important asset we have,” said Rosier.
Rosier serves or has served on 15 different boards and coalitions in various capacities while a Commissioner, including actively being involved with the planning, design and ultimate completion of the Jefferson County Parkway. He is probably best known for forming and chairing the WestConnect Coalition, which brought former adversaries together for completion of the western beltway. The beltway project has been fought over for almost 25 years and Rosier was instrumental in negotiating a 10 million dollar land deal for right-of-way and open space between Jefferson and Boulder Counties and the City of Boulder. This led to the execution of a corridor charter between three counties, four cities, two metropolitan districts and the Colorado Department of Transportation for needed improvements along the corridor.
“We are very excited for Commissioner Rosier and will miss his leadership and experience," said Libby Szabo chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. “While a County Commissioner, Don has been an enthusiastic supporter of many issues throughout the county and a strong proponent for serving our citizens. I am confident that we will have a smooth transition and rest assured that the Board of County Commissioners will continue to work on its many initiatives and remain committed to providing our citizens with the most effective and efficient services possible.”
Rosier is a fifth-generation Coloradoan who grew up in Arvada and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in civil engineering. A highly qualified professional engineer, Rosier’s 25 years of private sector experience includes civil engineering design, project management, acquisition, entitlement, land development, construction and management with companies such as Metropolitan Homes, Neumann Homes, Sunrise Colony Company, Alliance Commercial Partners, Davis Partnership and Mueller Engineering.

Rosier and his wife, GeriAnn, have lived in south Jefferson County since 1992 and have a daughter and two sons. An active community volunteer, Rosier served as a member and chairman of the Jefferson County Community Development Advisory Board for eight years. He also teaches Sunday school, coaches lacrosse and volunteers at local schools.
Rosier represents Jefferson County in Commissioner District Three, which is the south part of Jeffco. The vacant position will be filled, according to state statute, by the Vacancy Committee of the Jefferson County Republican Party.
